Refund Policy
Contributions are generally final once processed. This explains the situations where we can help, what actually happens when a refund is issued, and how long it takes.

1. Contributions are generally final
When you contribute through Rally, your payment is processed immediately and the funds are transferred to the beneficiary organization's account. Because the money reaches the organization quickly, contributions are generally final and we cannot offer a guaranteed right to change your mind.
This is different from buying a product. You are supporting a fundraiser, and the team may already have committed the funds.
2. When to contact us
Contact us and we will look into any of the following. Reaching out costs you nothing and we would rather hear from you than not:
- A duplicate charge. You were charged twice for what you meant to be one contribution.
- An error in the amount. You entered the wrong figure, for example a missing decimal point.
- An unauthorized charge. Someone used your card without permission.
- A cancelled fundraiser. The campaign did not go ahead.
- A fundraiser that is not what it claimed to be. If you believe a campaign is misrepresenting who it benefits, tell us — we treat this seriously and separately from refunds.
Email support@rallyforteams.com with the date, the amount, and the fundraiser name. Your confirmation email has all three.
3. Approval is not guaranteed
We review each request individually. We will approve a refund where we are satisfied it is warranted, and where the law requires it we will always do so. But outside those cases a refund is at our discretion and at the beneficiary organization's, and we cannot promise an outcome in advance.
Refunds may also involve recovering funds that have already been transferred to, and in some cases paid out from, the organization's account. Where that money has already been spent, a refund may not be possible.
Whether a discretionary refund policy is sufficient, and whether any state charitable solicitation rules impose a mandatory refund right for donations made through a fundraising platform, needs review by counsel.
4. What happens when a refund is issued
When we refund a contribution, all of the following happen together:
- The full amount you paid is returned to your original payment method.
- The portion that was transferred to the beneficiary organization is reversed out of their account.
- Rally returns its platform fee in full.
You are made whole for the entire amount you were charged. Rally does not keep its fee on a refunded contribution, and the payment processing costs are absorbed by Rally rather than passed to you or to the team.
Partial refunds are possible in principle but are not currently offered through the organizer dashboard.
5. How long it takes
We initiate refunds through our payment processor, Stripe, as soon as they are approved. After that the timing is out of our hands: how quickly the money appears depends on your bank or card issuer, and typically takes five to ten business days.
A refund usually appears as a separate credit on your statement rather than as the removal of the original charge. The original charge shows as RALLY.
6. Chargebacks and disputes are different
A chargeback is when you ask your bank to reverse a charge, rather than asking us. It is a separate process run by your card network, with its own timelines and evidence requirements, and it is not something Rally controls or can speed up.
If you believe something has gone wrong, please contact us first. We can usually resolve it faster than a dispute, and a chargeback against a school or booster club can have consequences for their ability to accept payments at all.
7. Tax treatment
Contributions are not necessarily tax-deductible. Tax treatment depends on the beneficiary organization and your individual circumstances. Rally does not verify the tax status of organizations, and the confirmation email we send you is a payment receipt, not a charitable tax receipt.
If a refund affects a contribution you have already reported on a tax return, speak to your own tax adviser.
